Trips for Music Lovers

Mozart's Birth House in Salzburg

Mary Ann and Irene in Mozart’s Birth House in Salzburg

Music Lover’s Trips are for individuals, couples, or groups of friends to see the sites of Europe’s great musical capitals. These trips are crafted to have a good blend of musical history, the important non-musical places of interest, and free time for you to explore or shop at your leisure.

For 2018, you can travel with us to five wonderful cities: Salzburg, Vienna, Budapest, Prague, and Leipzig. These cities were the homes of great composers and have magnificent musical performances today. .

Music is always important in our trips, and In Mozart’s Footsteps always designs the tours so that travelers with all levels of musical background and interest will love what they see. Musical novices as well as music professors have traveled with us and everyone has had a great time. And Dr. Nelson will be with the group at all times, sharing his knowledge and experience.

Hearing live music is always an important part of our trips. Dr. Nelson will arrange tickets for major orchestras (Vienna Philharmonic, Gewandhaus Orchestra, etc.) and operas (Vienna State Opera, Volksoper, Budapest State Opera House, Prague’s Estates Theater, etc). He will send information about the pieces to each participant before the trip and then spend a little time discussing the music before the performances.

Travelers on the Music Lover’s Trips come from all parts of the world. You will need to arrange your own transportation to and from Europe. (This is a great time to use your frequent flyer miles!) Many participants come over early or stay for a while after the trip to see more of Europe or even spend more time in the cities we will visit.

The price for these trips is virtually all inclusive from the first to the last days. Hotels, two meals a day, transportation between cities, tickets to at least two wonderful concerts or operas, all museum admissions, and guided tours are included. Dr. Nelson will also supply everyone with printed information about what we’ll see, maps, and an electric adapter (important!). The only things people will have to pay for during the trip are one meal a day and drinks at lunch and dinner.
