Our June, 2025 tour of Prague and Leipzig will be full of great performances, fascinating musical history, great culture, delicious meals, and free time for you to explore these cities on your own. The week in Leipzig is during Bachfest, an international festival featuring some of the world’s finest Baroque performers. We have tickets to outstanding concerts featuring pianist Andras Schiff, the Gewandhaus Orchestra, and the Staatskapelle Dresden.
Prior to our arrival in Leipzig, we will spend four days exploring Prague, its history, and its music. We’ll hear the Prague Radio Symphony the opera “Sarka” (by the Czech composer Zdenek Fibich), and a have a private lecture by one of the world’s preeminent Dvorak scholars.

- Tours by local guides in both cities Prague, Leipzig, and Dresden
St. Thomas Church in Leipzig, where J.S. Bach was music director. He performed here countless times, and the master’s grave is now near the altar. We’ll attend a concert there by the St. Thomas Church Choir. Hearing Bach in the “Thonmaskirche” is a moving experience.

Itinerary
- Friday, June 13, arrival day in Prague, opening dinner
- Some people like to arrive a day or so early. Dr. Nelson can arrange hotel rooms for you.
- Friday, June 13 – Monday, June 16, Prague, four nights
- Monday, June 17 – charter bus from Prague to Leipzig
- Monday, June 17 – Sunday, June 22, six seven nights in Leipzig
- Monday, June 23, travel day
- If you would like to stay a day or so after the trip, Dr. Nelson can arrange hotel rooms
Auerbachskeller Restaurant, one of Leipzig’s most famous locations. Goethe wrote about it in “Faust”. We will have a meal here.
Leipzig-Only Option
- For travelers who only wish to join us for the six days in Leipzig, a Leipzig-only option is available.
- You would arrive in Leipzig on Tuesday, June 17 and depart from Leipzig on Monday, June 23
- This option is primarily offered to those who have previously visited Prague with In Mozart’s Footsteps, although we have had many people visit Prague on two different trips with us. You do not have to be a past traveler with In Mozart’s Footsteps to do the Leipzig-only option.
We have tickets to the opera “Sarka” at Prague’s National Theater.
